Correspondence from Dr. Anna Burditt to Andrew Burdett: 3/10/97 "The earliest family history I have, comes from the Leicester region of England and is closely associated with the Baptists of that region. My great-grandfather was a Baptist minister in Wales (born in England) and my grandfather emigrated to Canada in 1868. My uncle moved to USA and has some descendants there, and another branch of the family moved to USA in the 1800s." 3/11/97 "I have a family tree which goes back to a William Burditt in the 1700s. It was traced by another side of the family, so prior to that follows a wife's name--Graves. As I said, they were Baptists even then (as I am now). I had another unreliable source (something my mother got in the mail from U.S.A., I've forgotten where) saying the name came from a French word bordet meaning little sword. My aunts used to say that our name was a misspelling of Burdett. There is another family of Burditts in Ontario, who are apparently unrelated to us. There are, I think, a number of Burdetts in Prince Edward island--French families as far as I know." There is a Burditt Lake in Ontario 3/12/97 "A friend just sent me a message saying he had come across the name Riley Burditt in a book. Apparently Riley was an expert on reed organs. He lived in england."
